CATALONIA: THE DISASTER IS COMING

All calls made for calm in Europe, the latest by the Council of Europe, have been ineffective. The president of the Catalan Generalitat, Carles Puigdemont, crossed the Rubicon and declared the independence of Catalonia, although he subsequently suspended it for some time. But shortly after, Puigdemont himself signed a declaration stating that the Republic of Catalonia will be a fact consummated despite many critics inside and outside Spain.
The mediation, even international, demanded by Puigdemont, has little chance of being real since at no time the leader of the secessionists affirmed that the only exit is independence. Mediate for what? And over what? asked the representative of the socialist party. Mediating means that there are several possibilities for ending the crisis, but for Puigdemont there is only one way out: breaking Spain, which historically never happened.
The Spanish government knows that if it uses force to suspend the autonomy of the Catalans can happen the worst. There would be confrontations that would lead to a bloodshed, of that there is no doubt.
And Europe also knows that if nationalism triumphs in Catalonia, it will spread to other parts of the European Union, so that the crisis will be of great proportions. And disaster is about to come.
